Email Setup in OutlookBelow are instructions on how to set up your email account on a SoftDesigns server in Microsoft Outlook. If you are using an email client other than Outlook, the screens will look different but the setup information is basically same. Open Outlook and select Tools->E-mail Accounts. Choose one of the following and then click Next.
If you chose to add a new account, select POP3 and click Next. If you chose to changte an existing account, select the account and click Change... The following screen will appear. An explanation of each field on this screen is given below the screen shot.
Your NameThe name you enter here will appear as the "From" in emails you send. E-mail AddressJust that, your complete email address. User NameThis is always the same as your email address. PasswordThe password you were given by your web administrator. Incoming mail server (POP3)This is the word "mail" followed by a dot, followed by the same domain as your email address. Outgoing mail server (SMTP)Same in iincoming mail server.
After you fill in all the information above, click the "More Settings..." button. The following screen will appear. An explanation of each field on this screen is given below the screen shot.
Mail AccountThis is only used to identify this mail account in Outlook. If you only have one email account, it really doesn't matter much what you put here. If you manage several email account, enter something to clearly identify this account, like the email address. OrganizationThis is an optional field to enter the name of your organization. Reply E-mailThis is an optional reply e-mail address. If you want people who receive your emails to reply to a different address, enter that address here.
Now, click the Outgoing Server tab. The following screen will appear. Further instructions will appear below the screen shot.
My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authenticationMake sure this box is checked. Otherwise, you will not be able to connect to the server to send email.
Click OK. This will bring you to the original screen. Click Next and then click Finish.
